Here’s a secret: I was not always into fashion. When I was a kid, my head was always buried in a book, and I was more likely to ask for a book as a present than a pair of shoes. It was only later on when I started stealing my aunt’s teen magazines like YM (first to read the embarrassing stories section) and then moving on to reading my mother’s fashion magazines that I realized I liked more things than books. But I am still a bookworm at heart, and these Penguin classics redesigned by Coralie Bickford-Smith are both stylish and the perfect gift for the closet bookworm.

I’ve seen them being sold at Urban Outfitters, but I can’t seem to find the link to buy them!

Awhile back I posted that Christian Louboutin had designed a series of his footwear for Barbie. Today, net-a-porter launched the first Louboutin Barbie doll with the Cat Burgler Barbie by Christian Louboutin. The sultry figurine is dressed in a black catsuit and comes with four pairs of red-soled Louboutins, each with its own shoe box and bag, just like the original. At $150 a model, only very lucky little girls must be getting these dolls for Christmas. Honestly, I think I’d buy it for the models of the shoes itself. Just saying.

What I like/dislike about blogging:
I like the casual tone of blogging. I like reading blogs because they are usually written in a way that is conversational to the reader, and when I’m surfing the web, I don’t want to read, or even write, anything that takes too much time to think about.

What worked/didn’t work:
I was always confused whether or not I was allowed to post pictures. Most fashion blogs post runway images, or images from other blogs and just credit wherever they found the original content from.

Will I continue blogging?
I might. I like blogging, but I didn’t realize how hard it was to keep writing a blog a day. I lost track a lot, and had to catch up after a week of not posting anything.

Did I feel comfortable writing with my own, opinionated voice?
I do when blogging, but only because I feel like blogging is more casual anyway.

How does the blogging format fit or not fit in the world of journalism today.
Well, I definitely think that the world of journalism may be able to benefit from bloggers, and vice versa. For example, fashion magazines are usually published monthly, while most fashion blogs I read are updated almost every day. Editors from fashion magazines can scout the Internet for the most influential fashion bloggers while bloggers can grab inspiration from the magazines. I for instance absolutely read fashion magazines and enjoy the professional spreads when they come out every month, but it is always interesting to see the raw stylings of the internet bloggers every other day.

On Monday I got a call from a major fashion magazine to come in and interview for an internship. And they suddenly rescheduled for tomorrow! I’m so excited/nervous…raided my closet for hours trying to put together something worthy of wearing to the interview. Got a pair of new shoes…because new shoes bring good luck. I love the buckles…aren’t they Chloe-esque? But they’re actually from Zara. Thank you high street fashion!

It’s December already! Ridiculous. Where did all these months go by? It feels like just yesterday I was so sad to leave the warm weather at home for Boston…and now I’ll be back in just a couple of weeks! Now, December means Christmas shopping for most of you…but I don’t get to join in the fun and games I’m Muslim, so my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, but I’ve always been jealous of everyone else who got to! I mean, who doesn’t want a bunch of presents under the tree from the Santa Man? I guess one of the benefits of not having to deal with Christmas is that I don’t have to spend outrageous amounts of money buying presents for people. But I can still make up a fantasy gift list! These pieces, for instance, are what I might buy my sister or girl best friend if I had to buy them! And anyway, I’m in love with Christmas, so I buy gifts sometimes just for kicks. Just because I’m not technically supposed to celebrate doesn’t mean that I can’t!

New favorite fashion blogger! Alix Bancourt, or also known as the Cherry Blossom Girl mixes pieces from high street favorites such as Zara and Topshop with designer kicks from Chloe, Miu Miu and Stella McCartney. She blogs in French, her site is now also translated into English. I love her style! Very simple, whimsical and completely wearable all the time. The French really know how to dress properly.

This has been a really good season for H&M. First up was their collaboration with Jimmy Choo, and featured next will be French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel’s collection for the high street fashion company.

Watch the About the Collaboration video on the H&M website. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Nathalie Rykiel describes that a woman wears the bra, the panty as “an accessory for pleasure.” How lovely does that sound? Don’t we all wish we were Parisian? Sigh…

Am I the only one who thinks it’s odd that Daul Kim’s blog I Like to Fork Myself is now set to invite only, after the supermodel’s death? It’s such a shame, I always thought she had one of the most interesting model blogs out there. I loved her little haikus and such. Though I have always wondered what happens to things like your blogs and social network pages once a person passes away…who controls what happens? Random thought.

Oh, and better late than never:

This is amazing! Karl Lagerfeld gave every child’s favorite bucktoothed sponge a makeover worthy of Uncle Karl himself for a charity at a Paris fundraiser. The Lagerfeld designed Spongebob Squarepants figurine raised up to 1,000 euros during the event. This thing is ridiculous. And I love it!
